My vibrant colors and brush work are achieved with oil paints and that is what is outlined in the supply lists for the course.
Note about Acrylics: My method in oils is working alla prima (wet layer back into wet layer). Acrylics dry rapidly and make for a different result. Much of my thought process, loose style and brush work is applicable to both mediums. If you prefer to use acrylics, there is a supply list below I've put together for you to match my oil colors.
Do I need to buy everything on the supplies list?
You are welcome to use whatever colors, brushes, mediums, and surfaces that you wish for following along on this e-course.
You can always build a wish list for later as you watch the videos.
I want you to feel the liberty to pick and choose what you like/need according to your budget AND at the same time let you know specifically what I use—and why—so that you know exactly how I achieve the vibrant colors and effects that I do in my paintings. Fair enough?
To that end, I have created 3 separate supply lists (along with a palette layout for each list). Select the one that best suits your needs!

Outside the U.S.?
Dreama has added her recommendations for suppliers outside of the USA.
This list was created for folks who live outside the US and may have concerns with locating a few of the items. Those select items are listed here with suggestions for alternative suppliers or specific substitutes in the event you cannot locate an item.
Ampersand Museum Series Gessobords
This is my favorite painting surface. It’s a 1/8” thick panel that has a smooth surface with a very slight tooth/texture. If these are unavailable in your country, canvas in a either a smooth cotton portrait finish or linen will provide you with a fairly smooth surface as well.
Ken Bromley Art Supplies (UK) offers the Ampersand Panels and ships worldwide
Winsor & Newton Monarch Brush, Size 14 Flat
This Winsor & Newton Monarch Brush, Size 14 Flat is my favorite brush. Â If this brush is unavailable, look for a substitute brush made of synthetic mongoose that is approx. 1/2 inches wide (13mm). It is stiffer than sable, but softer than hog bristle.
Ken Bromley Art Supplies (UK) does offer the Size 14 Flat Monarch Brush and ships worldwide
Substitute Brush Brand Suggestions:
Rosemary and Co Eclipse Size 8 Flat
Dick Blick Art Supply Silver Brush Bristlon Bright, Size 6 Flat
Note:Â Brush sizes vary from maker to maker, so look for a brush that is approx 1/2 or 13mm in width.
Ice Blue oil color by Richeson Shiva
This is a grayish color that is a real gem. It is made here in the USA. A close match can be achieved by mixing ultramarine blue, transparent oxide orange and white to a value of about 3 on the gray scale. Both DickBlick and Jerry’s Artarama ship internationally. It can also sometimes be found on Amazon.com.  You may find it worth the extra expense to have one tube shipped so that you can have a sample to mix your own color from going forward.
Caribbean Blue by Old Holland Oils
Winsor & Newton Thalo Turquoise is a perfect substitute for the Caribbean Blue by Old Holland Oil Paints.
